Panama-Marquesas, week 1
Panama to Marquesas, a week in review
(Sorry few photos - we’re on passage with limited data.)
Equator crossing!
It’s day 10 of what’s likely to be a 30-40 day passage. So we’re a quarter of the way in?
Miles sailed: 1200
Engine hours: 32
Fish caught: 2
Fish landed: 0
Sail changes made: at least 50
Bird types positively identified: 2
Bird types guessed at: 3
Sharks seen: 1
Dolphins seen: SO MANY AND THEY MAKE US SO HAPPY
Loaves of bread made: 2
Vegetables lost to rot/damage: 2 bell peppers
Highlights:
Crossing the equator (happened at 9 am on March 7, day 7)
Pizza Friday (eating well is always important for us)
Dolphin commute at sunset on Day 9
We’re (generally) sleeping well, (usually) eating well, (frequently) sailing well, and smiling a lot. It’s not always comfortable, and not always easy.
But it’s pretty amazing.
2900 miles to go to Hiva Oa, Marquesas
