Jeremy's Retired!
Officially, as of January 15, 2021, Jeremy is retired.
He’s been burning vacation days non-stop since the beginning of the year (fully approved by his former boss), so it’s not like all of a sudden he had endless time to spend on the boat that he didn’t before. But it’s official!
No party possible in this COVID weird time, but Julian had the idea of some kind of gathering and my brother, Zach, has done these VidHug things for a couple of family members . . . so out went the call. A surprise video, just for Jeremy. 45 people recorded happy retirement wishes, from family across the globe to high school and college buddies, sailing friends and neighbors and more.
And then Behan, on Sailing Totem, said she wanted to join in the zoom cocktail hour if we were going to do one, which was ANOTHER great idea that came together in less than 24 hours (that COVID thing means maybe people don’t have many other social engagements). About 20 people joined the call, another total surprise for the man of the hour, and we laughed and joked and then watched that video together (Zoom screen share for the win).
General consensus: Jeremy can fix anything. Jeremy is as good at chilling out as he is at working his butt off. Jeremy has fabulous friends and family who love him and wish him well.
Here’s to boat work and progress. To exploration on land and sea. To new adventures, new friends, new places. To spending time with the people you love (whether you know them yet or not) doing the things you love.
Congratulations, Jeremy - well-earned, well-deserved. I’m looking forward to the next phase!
