Life. Designed? Or along for the ride?

It's not like there's a problem with being along for the ride. If you've got a good driver, the ride can be exhilarating. Gorgeous. Adventurous. Easy. Boring? Maybe, but maybe that's a small price to pay for all the other amenities.

What if that driver disappears? What happens then?

My friend John Davis died last week. He was 55 years old and fell asleep and never woke up. To say his death has shaken me is an understatement.

John lived his life by design. He had his passions (soccer, teaching, his dog, his son) and his principles (truth, hard work, finding joy.) He held jobs large and small, and he never stayed in a place when he felt his ethics of truth and honor could not be upheld. He was active, healthy, and mindful.

What I keep coming back to is the idea that life is precious. It's fleeting. You never know when it might be done.

Would you rather go along for someone else's ride, or create your own?

I'm working at creating my own. It involves helping as many people as I can understand that this is their life. Their ONE life. (echoes of Michael Hyatt - and if you don't know his work? Check it out.) Go out and live it as fully as you can.

Choose you. It unleashes so many possibilities.
