Leaning
When I wake up in the middle of the night, I see a couple of cats leaning against Jeremy’s legs, sandwiching him in contentment and trust. The dog rumbles around until she too is leaning.
When small children (and sometimes bigger ones) are tired, or worried, they lean into a place where they can find comfort. Who finds the actual comfort is a matter of debate.
The leaning in does something to the lean-ee. It lets you sigh. Breathe deeper. And relax in a way you didn’t think possible.
Up against adversity, you’ve got a couple of options. You can run, or hide, or fight.
Or you can lean in.
What do you choose?
