The Self-Sufficient Galley - it's HERE!
I was supposed to be on my way to Annapolis, Maryland in the next couple of days, to teach at Cruisers University. This incredible resource for cruisers is run during each Annapolis boat show, both spring and fall, and I’ve taught there for the past couple of years. (UPDATE: the fall 2020 shows have been canceled as well, due to COVID concerns. Come see us in the spring in Annapolis!)
Coronavirus disrupted these plans. Maryland (and Virginia too) is on a strict “Stay At Home” measure through June 10, so the boat show (and Cruisers U) was canceled. Unfortunately, COVID is still rampaging through the US in late August 2020, so the fall shows are not happening either.
Meanwhile, though, the work on courses continues. When I teach in Annapolis, I’ve got an hour and a half to try to get as much confidence into my students as I can. An online course, though, can incorporate so many aspects that just can’t quite get covered in that short a time period. While there is nothing quite like learning in person (join me there in the spring of 2021, hopefully!), an online course has a lot of benefits to it.
Food and how to stock up, how to cook at home and not waste ingredients? These are all critical skills for a cruiser. They’re also critical skills right now, during the pandemic.
I’ve created The Self-Sufficient Galley: a practical guide to food confidence, to help. It’s a course that I’m adding to on a regular basis, but I’ve heard from enough people that they need this NOW. Currently incorporating modules on meal planning, stocking up, storing, garbage, bread making, and salad dressing, this course is designed to help you gain practical skills to feel confident in the galley - whether that’s a water-based one or a land one commonly called a kitchen.
Times are tough and money is tight for a lot of people right now. This course is offered as a “Pay What Feels RIght” - 3 price points, with “$5” being one option.
Check it out. Let me know what you think. And stay safe and healthy.
